Memorial Day

Hello,
I'm very excited! Me and my family are leaving for North Carolina on Saturday, for an Memorial Day picnic at Scott Brown's farm! There will be hay rides, and three legged races, and all kinds of fun things! And I might make some new friends! I can't wait to tell y'all everything that happened when we get back. We are also going to Scott Brown's church on Sunday. I'm going to bring my Journal along with me, so I can write in it and tell you everything I wrote. There might be some Pictures too, if Miss Poppins will let me use her Camera, or if she will let me put her pictures on my Blog. Oops! I need to start Packing! Bye!

Hello everyone,

I know its been a LONG, LONG time since I've posted, but I'm going to now.

Last week on the 4th of July, my family did something unusual. My grandmother has a very big hill in her front yard and we decided in May that for Cindy-Lou-Who's birthday we were going to have a big Slip 'n' Slide down that hill. So on the 4th of July we set it up and it was a BLAST!

Here are some pictures:First test.It's good!Very wet.Poppy tries it.Try number two.Distance record! Chubby Cheeks' first and last try. Hi!Race who will win???Girls riding on Dad's back. Fun!Waiting for watermelon.

My first Air Show!

This Saturday Mr. P and I went to the air show in Tuscaloosa, AL. It was my first air show and I could not wait for 3 reasons, 1: It was my first air show. 2: The Blue Angels were going to fly in it. And, 3: It was my first AIR SHOW!!!!!!.

We arrived in Tuscaloosa about 9:15 am and the traffic was terrible! We were about a mile from the airport and were right next to a Lowe's. We saw tons of people walking to the airport. So I decided that we should park in the Lowe's parking lot and walk the last mile. (My dad says I was smart. :D ) We got to the airport 10 minutes earlier then we would have if we drove! We got in about 10:15 am and the flying started at 11:00 am. We walked around for about 30 minutes after we finally got there. Here are some pictures.Anyway, we found the ticket lady. (My Dad had bought tickets to sit in the grand stand on Sunday and the ticket lady said we could not use them until the next day but we did anyway and no one asked us for tickets so we got to see the show from the front row!) The air show started with the Golden Knights and then a lot of other teams and then plane demonstrations. Here are some more pictures:

After the Blue Angels were over my dad and I ran out of the airport as fast as our legs could carry us (it's weird, when your tired one mile seems pretty long :D) But we got to the car before the traffic and were so hot we couldn't stand it because we ran the whole way. So that was the airshow, I hope you liked it.

A trip to the Feed and Seed

Hello Everyone,

Here is a long awaited post.

The other day we were bored and our Dad promised us a day at the local Feed and Seed if we got our daily chores done. ( You can imagine how fast the chores got done that day. :) ) We left for the Feed and Seed. We arrived at the Feed and Seed and we looked around for no more then about five minutes when Poppy spotted buckets of baby chicks and ducklings! We were so excited to find out that we were allowed to HOLD the chicks and ducklings! Here are some pictures of them courtesy of Poppy's blog:

Of course Poppy, Miss Banana, Cindy Lou Who, and I all ran to the three inch long little chicks and ducklings. After about an hour or so of looking around we decided to hold the little chicks and ducklings one more time before we left.

That is what the Kudzu Family likes to do on boring days.

Our Trip to the Circus

Hello Everyone,

On my last post I said I would tell you about "Our Circus Trip", well now it's time to tell you.
We arrived at the Civic Center on that VERY cold day and walked about a mile from the parking lot to the building. We got our tickets, gave them to the lady taking tickets, walked in and saw booths like this...

and this..
with lights flashing so bright you could not look at them. And then we got to our seats............
As you can see we bought the tickets kinda' late and so we got the Nose Bleeds (they only went to V.) this was our view..

It was pretty high but we didn't mind because we could see behind stage.

They were going to make an elephant disappear and so we thought that we could see how they did the act but we saw no elephant behind the curtian. The show went on and it was a great show. We never found out how they made the elephant disappear.

A birthday in the Kudzu home

Yesterday was Miss Banana's 9th birthday and also a piano concert! The birthday girl's day began at 6:00 am (Our concert started at 11:00 but we had to be there 2 hours before.) She got dressed for the concert and Flibby took her to breakfast while the rest of the Kudzu family stayed home and prepared for the concert. When they came back, the rest of us were ready to go then we left, had the concert (which was wonderful) and at the end our piano teacher told everyone that it was Miss Banana's birthday and we sang to her.

We got back home and started to celebrate after a few guests arrived, of course. Our Nana came over and we had pizza, cake, and ice cream then we opened presents. Now in the Kudzu household we don't have "birthdays" we have "birthweeks"! We call them this because the celebrating goes on for a week. Every day is another suprise. And so tomorrow we will be going to the circus and go out to eat on Saturday. We wish Miss Banana a very Happy Birthday!

Tomorrow I will tell you about the trip to the circus. :)

Merry Christmas,
It's Christmas eve again. The whole house is busy with last minute shopping, christmas eve dinner smells all through the house.... you know that reminds me of a famous poem written by Clement Clarke Moore. It's called The Night Before Christmas....

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there. The children were nestled all snug in their beds,while visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads. And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap, had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap. When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, tore open the shutters and threw up the sash. The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer. With a little old driver, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment it must be St Nick. More rapid than eagles his coursers they came, and he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name! "Now Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! On, Cupid!, on Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall! Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, when they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky. So up to the house-top the coursers they flew, with the sleigh full of toys, and St Nicholas too. And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof the prancing and pawing of each little hoof. As I drew in my head, and was turning around, down the chimney St Nicholas came with a bound. He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot, and his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot. A bundle of Toys he had flung on his back,And he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack. His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry! His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow. The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth, and the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath. He had a broad face and a little round belly, that shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly! He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf, and I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself! A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, and filled all the stockings, then turned with a jerk. And laying his finger aside of his nose, And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose! He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, and away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

My first hunting trip

Hello Everyone,

As you remember, a few weeks ago I wrote a post about the hunting classes my Dad and I went to. Well, a couple days ago I found out that my Dad and I are going on our first hunting trip with our friends for my birthday!

We are going to travel down to our friends private land on my birthday the 12th of December and sleep there for the night. The next day we will go hunting in the morning, stop for lunch and go back out and hunt till evening.

So please pray that we will have a safe trip and hopefuly shoot something!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving my favorite time of year, (next to Christmas, of course) and it is also two weeks before my birthday! But Thanksgiving is the time where we remember what we are thankful for.

I'm thankful for loving friends and family, a home to live in, my health, and all the blessings the Lord gives me everyday.

One thing we do every year is remember the Pilgrims and everything they went through to have religious freedom. They sailed to America on the Mayflower, they survived a terrible winter (some of them did, at least), they met the Indians and the Indians taught them how and when to plant their crops and hunt for animals. Then they had the historic feast that we celebrate today.

After the Thankgiving day parade and before you eat, remember the Pilgrims and all they went through to find a new land to have religious freedom.

Hunting classes

Hello everyone,
I have not posted in a while and this is part of the reason why...

Me and my dad the last few days have been going to a three day hunting class and tonight was the last night. We learned some things about safety, guns, ammo,hunting seasons,tree stands, and much more. They taught us out of this book...

It has important information on how to be a safe and responsible hunter. And tonight was the test and I passed the test my result was 83! not the best but a B was enough to pass and now I have a card the says that I have passed the class and when I'm old enough I can get a hunting licence. They gave me an alabama department of conservation and natural resources magazine to wear on me while out deer hunting until I'm old enough to get a licence.

Well that is all for now I'll post about our trees being cut down later...

The Landing of the Pilgrims

Every year at the Thanksgiving season, my family gets together and reads The Landing of the Pilgrims. It is a lovely book about the Pilgrims, how they lived before they came to America, what it was like on the long trip on the Mayflower, how they survived the long cold winter, and how they lived and became friends with the Indians. Your famliy will love the adventures, difficulties, fights and the story of that first Thanksgiving. You can check it out at your local library or pick up a used copy on ebay. Have fun reading this wonderful story about the Pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving!

Gaze upon it. Its good right? I made it (with some help I'm not saying how much from Miss Poppins) But I made it. (Or she made half of it). First day of fall

Hello everyone,

Today as you might know is the first day of fall. My family loves fall. The cool weather, the beautiful leaves, and it is also close to the holiday season. Fall also has a holiday of its own Thanksgiving. My family loves thanksgiving. One thing all the kudzu kids love to rake leaves in to a pile like so

Gaylord Hotel

Hello,

On our way home from Kentucky we decided that we would stay a night at Gaylord Hotel so I took a few photos of it. Here they are. They have a lot of waterfalls there. Also a lot of streams. But they have even more very interesting plants! They have a big pavilion and a restaurant. We got a very nice view from our balcony. My souvenir is a cowboy hat jewelry box with horse earrings inside! Well there's the Gaylord Hotel.

Off to Kentucky

Hello everyone.
On September the fifteenth my family is leaving for Kentucky. We are going up because we found a few farms that we might want to buy. Our family loves road trips and as usual everyone is jumping off the walls! The last road trip we took was down to Florida to Walt Disney World. Please pray that none of us get sick and that we make it there and back safely. We will be there for about five days but don't worry we will take lots of photos and Flibby will take her laptop so we can post.

Cindy Lou Who

Cindy Lou Who had quite an adventure today as you can see. First of all she played bubbles.She likes jumproping. And hoolahooping. Her dream is having a horse. She's just learning to ride a two wheeler. Wheeeeeeeeeeeee. She's beginning to be a thrillseeker. This is why it is called the kudzu kids. She loves the color pink especially on flowers. Lovely monkey grass. She's not afraid of poison ivy. Well as I said she had quite an adventure.

Congratulations to Olive s. the winner of Give a tip. Here is her tip: When you pick herbs from your garden, chop them up and put them in an ice-cube tray. Cover them with water and then freeze. You can store the ice-cubes in a plastic bag in your freezer and they will keep for a VERY long time. Then just pull them out and use them when you are making soups or other dishes!

Todays theme is cooking. Here is my tip: When making an omelet melt some butter in the pan to give it flavor and to keep it from sticking.

My helpful tip is how to know when to havest a pumpkin: Just stick your fingernail in the skin...if it goes through, then the pumpkin isn't ready...but if it doesn't then your pumpkin is ready to harvest!

Pumpkins Everywhere

Stockings

Here in the Kudzu family household we have a tradition. Every Christmas we draw stockings. We take little pieces of paper and draw everyone's name on them. Then we put them in a sock and let each person draw one. Whomever you choose is your stocking person.

Then you have to think of a theme to make their stocking. For example, if your stocking person likes horses you could make their stocking a horse theme. You could fill it with toy horses or horse candy, or anything else you can come up with!

Last year my dad had Flibby. He gave her a Broadway theme. Flibby had Miss Poppins, she gave her a fashion theme. Miss Poppins had Daddy, she gave him a garage sale theme. I had Mommy, I gave her a germ theme (she did not like it very well.) Mommy had Miss Banana, she gave her an alphabet theme. Miss Banana had Cindy Lou Who, she gave her a circle theme. Cindy Lou Who had me, she gave me an airplane theme.

It's a lot of fun! I can't tell you who I have this year - it's a secret, but I'm certain I'll come up with a great theme!

Garden update

As you can see we have not posted in a while so I will post about our garden.

Here is our giant pumpkin.

Our tomatoes are big. We already picked about ten so far. There are THIRTY SIX still on the vine.

When I was out in the garden today all of the sudden a rabbit came by and here is a photo of it. Look close!

Our squash has done nothing so far.

Our 7th okra.

Our basil is giant!

So is our sage.

Our zucchini is big also.

Disney World

In January, our family is taking a trip to DisneyWorld in Orlando, Florida. We go there every few years and we love it! It's our favorite place to go. We have been going to Disney World since Flibby was born.

My dad uses information from a website called, Tour Guide Mike. It helps you stay away from crowds and have a wonderful time. We also love to look at all the hotels there, and the restaurants are wonderful. There is so many rides in Disney World!

There are four parks in Disney World. Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Disney Studios. Magic Kingdom is a fantasy world "where all your dreams come true!" There are lots of wonderful characters to see there and each section has it's own fanciful theme.

Epcot is a futuristic world of designs and wonder! One of our favorite rides is Soarin'. It's a ride that puts you in a hang glider and makes you feel like you are flying. In Epcot you can go see the World Showcase. Here you can walk from China to France in only a few steps, and to nine other countries as well!

Animal Kingdom is an animal world where you can see all kinds of animals. It is themed like Africa and Asia. Also in Animal Kingdom is a funny 3-D interactive show called, It's tough to be a bug!

Disney studios is supposed to remind you of Hollywood in California. It show how much Walt Disney loved movie making. One of the most popular rides there is The Tower of Terror. It takes you up about 200 feet and drops you! Its so fun I have never ridden on it but my family says its fun.

I can't wait to go to DisneyWorld again!

The MD-80

As some of you know my favorite subject is airplanes, aviation, etc.

'American Airlines' (my favorite airline) owns a lot of my favorite airplane...the 'Mcdonell Douglas MD-80'. Here is a picture of an MD-80.

This is my favorite airplane because (as you can see on our old blog), my father and I went on a trip to Colorado on an 'MD-80'. It was my first airplane flight and I loved it. We went on four flights. And our last flight, we had the same flight attendants that we had on our first flight. They treated me as if we where best friends!

And so from then on I have loved airplanes. I hope to some day earn enough money to go to flight school. Of course the flight school I wish to go to cost $6,000! I'm am finding all kinds of new and interesting ways to earn money, and hopefully someday I will be in flight school!

Hello, this is Hannah. I got a interest in taking pictures so I decided to make a blog. Here is my garden post.... Our okra has gotten very big lately.... That is not a bug on our tomato just in case you're wondering.... We have eight tomatoes so far.... If you look closely there is a small white bean....And, of course, there is our yellow pepper.... And our green one.... Aaaaaa! weeds!.... How about that giant pumpkin?.... Garden cat.... There are two of our tomatoes.... Aren't I cute?.... Bamboo (To hold up our tomatoes. They're at least up to my chest!)Here kitty kitty kitty.... Those potatoes are plopping over constantly....Well, there is our lovely growing vegetable garden.
